Top 10 Locations for Oregon Engagement Photos

From beaches to waterfalls, there are so many incredible places to take Oregon engagement photos! I’ve rounded up some of my favorites for you.

10 Locations for Amazing Oregon Engagement Photos

Check out these gorgeous locations for unforgettable engagement sessions.

1. Latourell Falls

Latourell Falls is a 224-foot waterfall in the Columbia Gorge. This waterfall is situated on a 2.4-mile loop and requires a bit of hiking. That’s part of the fun, though. Beautiful mossy forests and bright lichen surround the falls. The landscape is classic, dramatically beautiful Pacific Northwest. We might get wet during the session, but it’s more than worth it. These Oregon engagement photos are epic!

2. Rowena Crest

If you’re looking for a different viewpoint on the Columbia Gorge, check out Rowena Crest. The views are only beat by the wildflowers that bloom here in the spring. Vibrant yellow and purple flowers grow in abundance. Because it’s a roadside viewpoint, you can get Oregon engagement photos with less strenuous hiking here. If you’re down for some exploring, there is a trailhead nearby.

3. Powell Butte

Powell Butte also has incredible wildflowers in the spring and summer. In the fall, the tall soft grasses are equally beautiful for Oregon engagement photos. Powell Butte is part of Portland’s Parks and Recreation Department. You can see the city in the distance. Somehow this place manages to feel wild with animals and plant life everywhere. It’s incredible to have an untamed place like this within city limits.

4. Mount Hood

Mount Hood’s snow-capped peak is iconic for a reason. The stunning mountain takes your breath away. The Mount Hood National Forest is known as a destination for winter sports, but the dramatic landscape is beautiful year-round. Trees tower at the edges of a field below the mountain. The view makes an amazing backdrop for Oregon engagement photos!

5. Government Cove

Government Cove is a bit inland from the coast in the Columbia River Gorge. From the rocky shore, you can see across the river to Washington State. There are multiple hiking trails in the area, but there’s so much to see on the banks of the river. The large stretch of sky reflected in the flowing river is captivating. The Cascade Mountains roll into the horizon. Government Cove is definitely a romantic location for an engagement session.

6. Hug Point

Hug Point is a state recreation site on the Oregon Coast. It is unique among coastal locations because it includes a waterfall by the beach. Located five miles south of Cannon Beach, Hug Point is sometimes less crowded. This can make photos feel more relaxed and intimate. The cove is surrounded by evergreen trees and giant rock formations. It’s an enchanting spot for Oregon engagement photos that are a little different from your typical beach photos.

7. Caves at Pronghorn

How epic is it to have Oregon engagement photos in a cave? This cave in Bend actually serves as a wedding venue. You can get engagement photos there, too. The cave walls are surprisingly colorful as they arch overhead. The lighting is also beautiful and makes for gorgeous high-contrast images with a hint of mystery. Adventurous couples will love an engagement session here.

8. Trillium Lake

Trillium Lake is another great place to enjoy views of Mount Hood. The lake reflects the mountain in its crystalline waters. The whole area is picturesque. The area is popular for camping and boating for obvious reasons. Even on cool, cloudy days, the lake’s rippling water is enticing. Aside from the lake, the forest provides opportunities for woodsy Oregon engagement photos.

9. Clear Lake

Located off the McKenzie Highway, Clear Lake offers similar scenery. The oblong lake is surrounded by dense forest. Famous among divers for its clarity, Clear Lake is stunning. Nature-loving couples may find that they can’t resist splashing in the shallows. It’s also a fun location to try a little something different. Why not do your Oregon engagement photos in a boat? The images are sure to be romantic and unique.

10. Black Butte

Black Butte is an extinct volcano in Central Oregon. Nearby, at Black Butte Ranch, you can get lakeside Oregon engagement photos with the butte in the background. Since Black Butte is part of Deschutes National Forest, you get romantic Pacific Northwest wilderness. You can make a whole day of it and stop in at the Black Butte Ranch’s spa after your photo session.
